Do I need to have a referral to be seen?
No, you do not need a referral to have an appointment at Bluewater Multisport. You may require a pre-authorization or a physician referral from your insurance if you seek reimbursement for your expenses. Please contact your insurance company for specific details if you plan on submitting your expenses for reimbursement.
Florida law allows a person to be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist for 30 days for new conditions not assessed by a physician. After 30 days, the plan of care must have approval from the patient’s doctor. If you have already been to your primary care doctor for your condition in the past, no plan of care approval is needed.
Why should I come to Bluewater Multisport first?
Patients get better faster, for longer, and for cheaper when seeking physical therapy as their first line of care. These same patients are also more likely to be happy with the care they received. There are many scientific studies which prove this fact.
There are also studies which show physical therapists are even more effective at evaluating and diagnosing musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, tendon, etc.) injuries than non-orthopedic physicians. Physical therapists have been working as direct access to medical providers for over 40 years in the military without any significant safety issues.
What do I need for my first visit?
You will need to come in about 10-15 min before your appointment time wearing clothes that you can move in. Movement is our medicine so be ready to do so!
Why are you out of network with all insurances?
At Bluewater Multisport, we do not feel being in network with insurance companies will allow us to work with patients the way they need to get adequate treatment. As an out of network medical provider, we provide individual care for each patient allowing for treatments to be patient focused with faster discharge rates.
Due to decreasing reimbursement rates from insurance, most physical therapy clinics must see large volumes of patients to be financially viable. That leads to decreased one on one time between the patient and therapist. It also leads to treatment plans that may not be the fastest way to get you better while using unnecessary ‘extras’ to increase the amount a clinic can charge an insurance company. By not being tied to restrictive insurance, Bluewater Multisport will provide treatment based on patient needs not what we think insurance will cover. We work for the patient, not the insurance company.
Can I submit a claim to my insurance company?
Yes, you can submit an out of network claim with your insurance company. Many patients can get between 40-80% of their costs reimbursed. Be sure to contact your insurance company before submitting claims to know what out of network benefits you may have. If you are looking to get reimbursement, some insurance companies require a referral from your primary care doctor.
Do you only treat athletes?
In our opinion, everyone is an athlete in one way or another. Whether you are on a competitive team or you want to play with your kids without pain, you need to be able to use your body. Anyone who needs to use their body effectively for life is an athlete. Life is more fun and enjoyable when pain does not get in the way.
Our treatment style does favor those with an athletic or determined mindset. We expect the patient to take an active role in therapy and have the work ethic to do the tasks necessary to meet their personal goals.
How much does a visit cost?
Payment is due at or before the time of the visit. All appointments are hour-long visits with the Doctor of Physical Therapy. Cost varies depending on the services provided.
One thing you can be sure of is that you will know the cost due before booking your appointment. For you to have the most appropriate information, it is best if you contact us for a no-obligation free phone consultation with a therapist.
Some costs may be able to be reimbursed through your insurance company. Please check with them the requirements they may have for out of network reimbursement.
Our physical therapy services are eligible for use with Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flex Spending Accounts (FSA).
